svchost, exe in system32 is a normal windows funtion,
svchost.exe in windows (not system32) is a virus.
But I believe your problem is a home/search page hijacking
try downloading spybot search and destroy and/or ad-aware
to remove the malware.

svchost.exe is a program that XP runs so that certain network components can
run. Me personally i wouldn't delete all those drivers. Sounds like doing
that will really shut u down. What is telling u to edit the registry? Is it
a pop-up or some kind of program that u r running?

I have been getting the same message, and I was leery
about following it. It happens when you open Explorer
with Google as your homepage. Furthermore, in the past 24
hours, my home page now resets itself to Find4u, which I
have NEVER used or heard of.
My Norton Anti-Virus isn't finding the problem. What can
I do?

I type www.google.ca into the address line and I get the
answer " if you see this page your hosts file has been
hacked. It then says to go
to //windowsupdate.microsoft.com to update then go to
regedit and find 1. Start regedit,
find
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio
n\Run ,
delete starting of svchost.exe file,
reboot your computer,
delete file svchost.exe in windows directory.
