Very frustrating time - what you see never seems to be what you get!

I have a very simple page with a left border. I have a background picture
(tile with some texture) in the border to colour the left of my page and to
place navigation buttons. Why oh why can I not get text in the page to
begin next to the border??? There is about 1cm space, but nothing in the
html to tell me why? If I insert a table, same thing, the left of the table
is a long way from the end of the border. What is going on here?

Can anyone please help?

You can't modify that space, it's in control of the shared border component.

As an alternative, consider using "Include Page" components instead. They
are more flexible (but also a little harder to get used to using) than
shared borders.

Thanks for the quick response. At least I'm not going mad! I wonder why
MS did that?
