I'm using Windows XP on my Laptop!
I have loaded IE8, but I'm not happy with it! Can I get rid of it and go
back to IE7
Thankyou

Control Panel ( Classic View ), Add/Remove Programs - tic/check
"Show Updates". Scroll down the list and you should see an entry
for Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0. Left Click to select and then the
Uninstall button. A reboot will likely be required to complete the
rollback to your previous IE version.

What don't you like about it?
(just in case I get tempted)

I have done as you said but I still hve a problem. IE7 tries to load, I then get a message saying it has hit a problem and needs to shut down I also get a message saying; Application error. The instruction at0x77c46f3 referenced memoryat 0x00f0000. The memory could not be written. I have tried several times and the codes are differnt each time. I think I was having this problem in the first place when I decided to load IX8. I have Firefox loaded so I can still get onto the web!

If you were having this problem before you'd installed IE8B2 (which wasn't a
very good idea), what makes you think uninstalling IE8B2 would fix it?

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjunction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Install it and find out for yourself. Lots of nice stuff. Stable.

Easily removed if you decide you don't like it.
Thank you Buster for taking the trouble to send me all that info. I will see how I get on with it. It's going to take me some timeto work through it. It's not a big problem to me with having Firefox to get n line and if all else fails I can take it to a one man band that I know local. Thanks again for your help

I have the same issue but when I go to the control panel(classic view
tic/show updates) IX8 is not listed but IX7 is.
