Does anyone know why the Outlook client periodically goes offline.
Matt said:My connection type is set to LAN like you have said. Thank you again for the
help.
Milly Staples said:What do you have set under your account properties for the connection type?
It should be LAN and set to not disconnect after a send/receive.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
After furious head scratching, Matt asked:
| I am having the same problem, when my Outlook is running I will
| periodically lose connection to the internet. I have to disable and
| then renable my lan connection to restore my internet. This only
| started happening when I started using Outlook and it only happens
| when I have Outlook open. Thank you in advance for any information
| you can provide.

Check the send and recieve properties and where are your PST Files Located,
locally or on a server? if on server make sure the server is not causing the
problem!

Matt said:I have made sure that I am not set to work offline. My PST Files are located
on my local hard drive. The thing about this loss of connection is that I
will be activily going from website to the next with my Outlook running and
will then when I am going to the next page to veiw on my browser is when I
find I have lost connection. I get no warning except a failed to send and
recieve from Outlook. Thank you.

JayJP said:when your outlook goes offline, can you still acess the internet? if not it
seems like a dodgy network card! are you running Antivirus? firewall?
The only other time i have had this problem is when the PST File has been
corrupted! in the office directory you can find the following, ScanPST, use
this to see if there are any corruption on the PST file! The only other thing
i can think of, is another device is using the same ip address which in turn
will knock one of the devices off the network! Anyone else having this
problem on you network?
