For gmail access in Windows Mail, see all the settings,

Did you enable POP access on the gmail account at the website?

You've enabled a setting that server does not support.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

yes, I enabled Pop on the server website.
I have tried everything.... now microsoft mail keeps shutting down
