globe find and replace

I am replacing various special characters with the character map numbers.
There are hundreds to replace. I tried control f and put the alt # in the
replace box. That didn't work. Any other methods for global find and replace?
 
I S&R you need to enter the encoded values (like € or &169;)

I used the alt0255, etc. and it worked on some of the pages, but not all.
Where do I find those encoded values?
