global replace in contacts

I'm trying to do a global replace by grouping contacts by the field I want to
change, then dragging the group of contacts that require the change onto a
group that contains the desired data for that field. It sort of works. But,
instead of allowing me to "change" the data in the field, it only allows me
to "add" the data to the field, and thus it adds a comma to the data. I've
tried right-clicking instead of left-clicking, Control-Right- and Left-Click,
Alt-Right- and Left-Click, with the same results. Only once did I get the
"change" option, but I can't repeat it now.

I've learned a bit more about what's going on. I'm doing the global replace
on a user-defined keywords field that uses a checkbox control. I realize
that Outlook assumes a value of "none" in these fields, if no data has been
selected; so that when I do the global replace Outlook sees there is a value
already there (none), knows that multiple values are acceptable, and assumes
that I want to add another value rather than replace the "none." I might be
able to live with this; however, sometimes it puts the comma and space (", ")
before the other value I've added, and when I group by that field, it groups
on the value "none" and the other value. But sometimes it puts the comma and
space after the other value I've added, and those contacts are in a separate
group because of the oder of the "none" value and the other value. I realize
I'm wanting Outlook to do a lot. Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

There are only two ways to do a global replacement on a custom keywords
field -- open each item and change it or write code to perform the change.
