I am working on a db which the original builder did not apply any standard
naming conventions. The db works but I want to clean it up so that it is
easier to work with. Is there a addin or utility available which allows you
to make a name change (table, field, function, .....) and have all referances
to it in the db (including in forms, queries, code,...) update?

I use the freeware add-in, V-Tools from www.skrol29.com It does a great job
and will do a search and replace through *everything*.

Don't sit too close to the computer or it might change the name on your
driver's license <g>

but how did you figure out what it does ?

Using SpeedFerret but it is NOT free.

SpeedFerret can only handle Access 2002 databases and does not support
Access 2003.

I have both Access 2002 and 2003 installed so I run Speed Ferret on a Access
2002 version of the database.

Didn't say it was. The findandreplace at sympatico is (or was)
freeware; SpeedFerret is for a fee, but (IMHO) worth every penny if
you're an active Access developer.
SpeedFerret can only handle Access 2002 databases and does not support
Access 2003.

Ummm... there is no difference *in the databases* between 2002 and
2003 format (in fact Access2003 defaults to using A2000 format
databases). Does SpeedFerret in fact fail to work with databases
created (in either format) using A2003?

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Tried the sympatico tool which was free but SpeedFerret is woth the cost.
It is an excellent tool and I could not live without it.

On the 2002/2003 issue it seems that I was not able to run SpeedFerret on
databases opened with Access 2003. At least I needed to have Access 2002 on
the computer. But others might have more wisdom on this issue.

I guess the www.moshannon.com website had all the info on this.
It says "SPEED Ferret 4.1 supports Access 2002 and SQL Server 2000, plus all
platforms supported by SPEED Ferret 4.0."
