Global.asa problem

I've been working successfully with Frontpage for many, many years & have
come up with something I simply cannot figure out. I have a client utilizing
2 databases on one website. One is Access 2003, the other Access 1997 served
on W2K. Both databases are fine and intact, but the Access 1997 is throwing
this error:

Database Results Error
Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application
recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.

Republishing does not resolve the problem. I believe it's something in the
Global ASA file, tho I cannot pin-point it. Anyone got any suggestions on
this?

TIA

Could also be the MDAC
- any reason the Access 97 DB is not upgraded in Access to 2003
