B B. R. 'BeAr' Ederson Jul 3, 2005 #2 I'm looking for a gis program that will handle vector, rastor and shapefile formats. Click to expand... Depends on your needs. If you need a fully featured GIS system you should take a look at GRASS: http://grass.itc.it Not that universal, but surely worth a look is Forestry GIS: http://www.digitalgrove.net/fgis.htm Somewhat in the same league plays the German KartenExplorer: http://www.bfav.de/kartenexplorer If you only need a program to *view* the mentioned formats or visualize some linked data you might be happy with the Esri ArcExplorer: http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer There are quiet a few other viewing tools, converter programs, and so on on the Net. A good source for information about these (and about free data sources and such) is always the FreeGIS server: http://freegis.org HTH. BeAr
