GIFs on web pages don't display

From some sites (e.g., www.cookinglight.com ) all I get is a "frame", a
rectange with a little square containing a red X. I have CookieCop2
installed and SpyBot and I wonder if they have disabled something that
allows the displays. Can somebody tell me how to get back to "normal"?

After having looked at the source code of the below web site, I would be
willing to bet that the graphics that aren't showing up are the ones being
sourced by Akamai (a distributed networking company that often supports
high-speed ads for companies) -- and thus are being stopped by SpyBot or a
redirect to localhost in your hosts file.
