ghost won't restore ext3 partition

i'm trying to restore an ext3 partition from a ghost image of an entire hard drive. i select the source partition and the destination drive, but when i try to select the destination partition, the one i want is disabled. i'm restoring from an image that was made from the same hard drive as i'm trying to restore to and i haven't changed any partitions. i've done this before with no problems. i'm using norton ghost 2003. to check the size of the partition's i began the process of doing an image from a partition. here's the partition info that ghost reports:

the partition i'm trying to restore is number 3. the data size for this partition in the image is approximately the same as shown here. is assume the reason has to do with the size of the partition but i have changed the size since i created the image. anyone have any ideas? thanks

My superficial reaction is that it may be getting confused by a very
full partition, getting confused about whether it will fit into the space
available, even when it came out of that space in the first place.

The latest Ghost 10 does support the older image files, so it may be
worth trying the Ghost 10 free trial and see if it will restore that partition.

thanks for the reply. i wasn't able to find a demo of ghost 10. i managed to solve the problem by restoring the partition from the image to a different hard drive and then using the redhat rescue disk to boot into a temporary system and reformat the target partition and restore the contents from the second drive using tar. a bit more work than i had envisioned but it worked.
