Ghost -FRO does not work for directories

I have a hard drive with bad sectors in the location of
the disk that maintains the Windows XP directories. This
prevents Windows from starting.

Running Ghost with the -FRO switch enabled does not help.
Ghost fails almost immediately because the first thing it
does is check the directory, which is hopelessly corrupted.

How can I make a clone of my hard drive onto a new hard
drive using Ghost in such a way as not to get hung up
reading the directories?

As has already been suggested to you several times (since you've
posted this a number of times) is to run chkdsk /r from a command
prompt. The system will run chkdsk on the next boot. That will mark
the bad sectors on your hard drive and move the data to sectors that
are good. Afterward you can run Ghost to clone to a new hard drive.

Follow the directions thus provided to you.

In addition...
Go to the hard disk manufacturer's web site and download their diagnostic software
respective to your hard disk. After the test, you will know if the hard disk is bad or not.
since it may have failed.

Why do you want to clone a defective system? What is it you hope to gain? It
is not going to be functional, anymore so than the original drive.

Start fresh. Then, connect the bad drive as a slave and salvage what you
can.

I guess you have learned now the value of good backups.
