Ghost Domains showing up

Prior to my arrival at this job my coworker set up a domain and later deleted
it. The problem now is that when you open "Network Neighborhood", at times,
it will show the old domain name and not let you browse the proper domain
until you close the window and reopen it....... is this being stored in
MetaData? and if so: how do I get rid of it?

Sounds like a WINS issue. Check your WINS server for the record and delete
it.

We only use DNS, not WINS........
but what if WINS was enabled previously? Would that still be stored
somewhere even though WINS is not disabled?

Right click my computer on your domain controller, go to manage, do you see
wins under the services tab?
