Picture This:

I have bought 300 laptops with XP Pro already installed on them. Say I
create an image of the laptop that I want to go on all the rest of the
laptops. I have used the original XP OS that came from the factory when I
created the image, instead of loading our Volume Licensed copy of XP.

Am I in violation of anything by creating images this way, and passing them
down through future laptops?

Why wouldn't you make the image using the Volume License?

This not very efficient as each of the 300 laptops needs to have it's own
individual product key or you will not be able to update your system and
will be nagged . If you load an image to each system you will have to use a
keychanger later to go to each system and change the Product Key. You should
create the image with the Volume License version of XP and then you do not
have to change the key.
