Getting strange email characters in email

Hello,
I am currently using office XP and outlook as my main email client.
Everything was working fine but then one day I started getting a stange set
of characthers right above the signature...see below



I have tried re-installing office and windows as well as installing windows
and office updates and nothing will get rid of it. Has anyone encountered
this before?

Hi Mary,
Thank you for the response. I checked my email encoding and it is set to
"Auto" with no other options and everything else looks good. I have noticed
that I only get the strange charachters when I reply to a plain text email.

Any other suggestions would be great. TIA!
