Getting Rid of Archive Folder

R

RFJ

At the top of my folder list is an archive folder but, if I click on it I
get the following message.

'Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the
specified folder location. The path specified for the file J:\Outlook Data
Files\archive.pst is not valid.'

The message is correct (there is now no J: drive) but if I left or right
click on that part of the directory tree all I get is the error message;
there is no option to close or get rid of that folder - so the message just
keeps coming up.

(Opening another archive file doesn't change things except there are no
error messages with that one and I can close this file.)

Any ideas on how I can get rid of this entry.

TIA

Rob

Reconnect the J:\ drive to your pc and make sure there is a pst file at the
location/path you specified. Then open Outlook, close the archive folder and
exit Outlook.

As an alternative to what Richard suggests you can also create a new mail
profile and point it at your existing data store, leaving out the reference
to the bogus archive.

Oh, and also check your archive settings (File>Archive or
Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive) to make sure there is no more reference to
the non-existent drive. You may also have to check the properties of each
folder (right-click>Properties>AutoArchive) to guarantee the references are
all gone.
