Getting rid of a large folder

I think this will be my last update. I stopped defraging after 30 hours.
The result looks pretty decent.

I decided to run a search on large file sizes on my C-drive. Anything
over 4M. I found quite a few, so went to the top folder they were in,
and did a properties to find the size.

363G
2.5M files
20K folders

All this from the sky data collection program working about 8 hours a
night for 20 days.

With a tip on turning off the Recycle Bin near the start of this
thread--just noticed (VanguardH). It looks feasible that I can zero them
out within a reasonable time.

When done I will direct the new data capture program to put its data on
another HD.

Actually, it's HP tech supports fault. The suggested it without
any cautions. However, as I've used my system, things (history,
in particular) are doing fine. Nevertheless, when one suggests
ccleaner, it should carry a warning.

His only fault might have been to recommend it to somebody who doesn't
understand computers. Otherwise, it's your own fault. There are
checkboxes that clearly tell you what's going to be deleted. One of
them is clearly labeled "Internet Explorer History." If you run Analyze
first, the program clearly tells you what it's about to delete before
it does anything.

CCleaner is a powerful tool, and maybe could throw up some more warning
dialog boxes to attract the attention of the inexperienced, but if you
pay attention, it's obvious what the program intends to do.

If you look under Applications you can untick Internet History .

BTW, how do I do that?

Right click on the Recycle Bin and then click on properties. Instead of
disabling the Recycle Bin you can just bypass it by holding the shift
key when you delete files. A yet better method is to delete the files
at the command prompt, files deleted at the command prompt do not go to
the recycle bin.
