Getting caught in an "acivation" loop.

Al Smith

Thank you Al Smith. The discussion surrounding this little issue has been
interesting (to say the least). I have a pretty good idea which way to go
now.

Ogden

Happy computing.

MS would just be better off acknowledging an individuals right to "fair
use." Copy-protection ends up protecting the copyrighted material from
those that have every right to use the software, and just gets more and
more people longing for the day when Linux will be a true multimedia
desktop replacement for Windows.

It is a long article, but does offer an interesting and alternative
perspective on the history of personal computers and Microsoft's role in
that history. You might consider linking to this article from your website,
if you are truly interested in challenging the Microsoft hegemony in the
software world.

This may be true, but how many "hacked" copies are there out there
now, because people just won't buy 2 or 3 sets of the very same
software to run different computers? My guess...LOTS...lol

Individuals shouldn't have to buy 2 or 3 copies of the same copyrighted
software, any more than they should buy 2 or 3 copies of the same movie
to play on their 2 or 3 DVD players.

Thinking any other way is just buying into the FUD of the colluding
members of the Corporate Copyright elite of the Software industry.

"Fair Use" is NOT piracy, it is your right!

I don't hate Microsoft. I'm just adding my voice to those that are
trying to get it to change, for the benefit of its customers.

Oh, good, you've shown that you can read the title of the article. BUT, if
you bothered to read the article, you'll come to appreciate that Microsoft
IS NOT going to change for the benefit of its customers. It operates for
the benefit of Microsoft (always has and always will).

In any case, here's something else to check out ...

Should allow you to run Linux on your Windows desktop without even needing a
LIVE CD. :)

I'm getting to reading it, I just won't link to it, as I'm already
misconstrued as a MS-Hater.

Yes VMWare is a real good solution for running multiple operating systems.
Used to run that under XP and run Linux in a VM along with Win2000, Win98,
Win95 and Win 3.1 (just for fun). BUT, VMWare costs money. Rdesktop is free
and allows for running real Windows on a dedicated computer as opposed to
within a VM.

Good article. Also, can you point me in the right direction to learn
how to set up a dual boot between my copy of "SimplyMEPIS" and W2K or
XP? Thanks.

Regards.

Sorry CS, but I have no experience using nor installing SimplyMepis. A
google search for SimplyMepis + Dualboot, should provide the answers.
Here's at least an article that mentions that it's easily done, but I don't
know the actual steps involved ...

Best of luck!

It's called honesty, following the license agreement, EULA, that you agreed
to when the the software was installed in first time. One computer, one
license.
