Getting 1 server to resolve as 2 domain names

I am building a server(newserver) to replace a second(oldserver). What I
would like to do is have the newserver pick up all browsing on the network
designated for oldserver. So drive mappings to \\oldserver\share need to be
picked up by newserver without a hiccup.
I have done this before and it was more then just adding it to DNS. I had to
get a unlisted patch from Microsoft to get windows 2000 to perform this
function, but I can not think of what I looked up last time. Anyone have any
ideas how to accomplish this?

All you should need is the DNS redirection. Patches from MS PSS are for
very specific cases and you should not need this. Make sure your servers
are fully patched and do this with a DNS change.

Remember that if you have older devices needing WINS or if you have Hosts
files out there, you'll have to address those needs too.

I knew this would work with typing in the machine name, but I dd not think
this made that machine name show up for poeple who browse to it via Windows
Explorer and network neighborhood. I remember a patch I had to get for
Windows 2000 for it to make it show up as both names in Windows Explorer, but
that may have been preSP4

thanks much
