Get rid of dualboot XP-64 and Ultimate-64

Current system dualboot setup:
HD 1: XP-64 on C, Data on D and Ultimate-64 on E
HD 2: Data backup on F.
Both HD's are 300Gb.

Since Ultimate runs 100% perfect, I want to get rid of my dual boot and
therefor drive C w/o reinstalling ultimate.
How should I proceed?
1. Just formatting drive C?
2. Deleting drive C and can the space be added to drive E?
3. Other?

Please advice.

Hi,

Run Diskmgmt.msc from Vista. Is C: indicated to be a system or boot drive?
If so, do not delete or format it or you will lose the ability to boot to
either OS. You have two choices: 1) Simply delete the XP system files and
remove the XP boot entry (run msconfig and use the boot tab to do that
easily) or 2) delete the C: partition and then do a startup repair by
booting the Vista disk. Doing (1) simply will give you the space on C: to
use for storage. Doing (2) will allow you to merge the free space with what
is likely D:\, not E:\ - the partitions being merged have to be contiguous.

Rick,
thanks.
I made one little error in my description.

Disk management shows: disk1
C: XP-64, healthy (logical drive)
E: Vista, healthy (Boot, Page file, crash dump, logical drive)
F: Data backup, healthy (Sysem, Active, Primary partition)

disk2:
D: Data, Healthy (Primary partition)

Please advise.
Thanks

Hi,

As it's not indicated to be either system nor boot, you should be able to
delete C:\ and expand E:\ to encompass it.
