Get Outlook Express .PBX Files Into Outlook 2007

Jay Rennemeyer

On my old computer Outlook Express has some kind of problem that won't allow
me to export my messages to an Outlook compatible format, and reinstalling
hasn't worked. All I have are the .PBX files that Express uses. Is there
any way to get these messages into Outlook 2007?

Thanks,

Jay

Assuming you actually mean DBX files, no. You can only access DBX files with
OE. Once you do, you can export them to Outlook. There has never been any
intermediary "format" to which you need to export, so your post is an odd
one that doesn't make sense.

Well, the oddity here is that OE is on my old computer and cannot export to
an Outlook format because of a problem initializing MAPI. My attempts to
reload OE have failed because every setup has IE packaged with it. The setup
complains that I have a new IE on the computer so it won't load anything. I
have unloaded IE and killed the svhost that keeps putting it back to no
avail. So now I have several .DBX files that are worthless to me because I
don't feel like completely reloading my old computer just to get OE on and
alive long enough to export to an Outlook format. And I don't dare load it
on my new machine because God only knows what that will screw up!

Then there is the .WAB file, which is also worthless, but that's another
thread.

Another wasted day in the land of Microsoft! >:-(

I'm not seeing an Outlook question here. If you are having problems
installing OE, ask in an OE group.

Do you have Outlook (not Outlook EXPRESS) installed on the old computer? if
not, that's why you can't do it. You need to transfer ALL the dbx files to
the new machine, import into Windows mail (assuming Vista on the new
machine) and then do the export to Outlook.
