get error 'document name or path is not valid'

I have a client who is using Word 2002 sp2. He has a document that when he
tries to open it, it gives him:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
*Check the file permissiions for the document or drive
*Use the file open dialog box to locat the document

We have tried both solution and neither works. He was working in the
document fine this morning and now this is the only document that gives this
error. He emailed me the document and I can open it just fine. I even tried
renaming and sending back to him and he still can't open.

Help!!!!!

1. There might be some macro code running on his machine that is trying to
open another file, which it can't find.

2. The version he is trying to open is not the version he sent you; and his
version is corrupt.

3. He is making some mistake about how he opens the file. Most common is
that the file is listed as recently opened on the File menu, but has been
moved the location it had when last opened.
