Hi,

what's the way to get an additional license?

I saw Microsoft is offering additional licenses (non-VLK) for a small
discount, when you have valid earlier bought XP. From

there's "Here’s the easiest way to get an additional license!" which
leads to http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/editorial/22/promotions/wal/
where you enter your current product key. However after that it only
gives "We are sorry, but we are experiencing some technical problems
with your request. Please try again later. "

Any ideas what the current way to get additional licenses is? Best hit
is ebay, or...?

That is the current way to get additonal licenses from Microsoft (and know
they are legitimate...)
What type of license do you currently have? Retail? OEM? Upgrade?

Upgrade. German version. I tried digging the MS pages (US and German) a
bit further, but couldn't find any page where to order additional XP Pro
licenses nor one of those "XP Pro with Vista upgrade coupon" bundles.

Ebay.de looks more and more attractive... (such as
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280069717683 and
similar etc, slightly dubious though if those _really_ are non-OEM...)

The additional license would be for a new PC cloned from the current
system i.e. old PC old license key, new second PC new key.

Another thing is, I'm not sure if a cloned Upgrade licensed system can
have a new Retail license applied to it... (?)

FYI - Microsoft has found that between 40-60% of Windows XP
licenses sold on auction web sites are non-genuine. I would not recommend
purchasing Windows XP licenses from an auction web site.
Purchase additional licenses from a trusted, local software store.

To add, its usually better to source from eg amazon.com or similar.
Whilst MS may sell you an aditional licence, it will probably cost less at
amazon.

Ordered one from Alternate.de now, actually the same as "Microsoft
Windows XP Professional SP2B for System Builders with Vista Tech
Guarantee Coupon" on Amazon.com but the German version.

Remains to be seen if that technical guarantee coupon _really_ will
be accepted by Amazon or Microsoft and lead to a "free" Vista
upgrade... OTOH as Amazon sells this XP+coupon pack, it might just
as well work.
