Not so Dear Sir,
Is n’t a Jargon, created by Microsoft Corp.? I am forced to feel so & would
boldly communicate others not to fall prey of this cleverly invented
lucrative term, by my own experience.
Yes, Piracy is a big problem and we should fight to curb this infringe into
intellectual property. But a customer should not suffer because your team of
thousands could not develop an electronic means to hide some essential
components or registry values of Windows by now, which can be inaccessible to
any writing/simulating Software to create an image! How do they crack it,
should solely be your perveiw .
Let me share my own experience, I do own a Desktop, purchased 3 years back
with pre-installed Windows which was unable to validate itself at many a
occasions, but still I am comfortable with it!
My second purchase in February 2006 was a Compaq Presario notebook V2000
series. This time I insisted upon Genuine Microsoft Software and got it. The
Xp Professional Service pack 2 continued to give me benefits of updates &
Genuine Windows Advantage offers.
A Trojan creeped in (win 32. downloader.exe) in last week of February, well
able to defy the McAfee Security. So, in vain, I had to delete the C Drive
and re-installed the Windows by same CD provided by Notebook Vendor. Well, it
worked and got-Activated within no time. This time the Antivirus was SOPHOS.
In the First week of April it was turn of worms. No way, Again that
exercise of Deleting the drives and re-installation. Ok, it worked, it was
Genuine, it got activated too! This time I tried your security Software,
downloaded Windows One Live beta. Its scans were exhaustive and antivirus
definitions not well defined, disturbing you every now and then, get it and
get that etc. Be sure, you have to spend a lot in making it perfect to glow
all green every time one logs on. It refused to get uninstalled, and victim
of Worm .
I bought Norton 2006 and confidant with my Xp Installer CD, re-formatted the
System, but this time it failed to get it activated with a chilling message
that I have exceeded the installation limit, contact customer care and get
Activation ID. Ok, it happens ! So I contacted at 011-2692640, provided the
installation ID and got the activation ID as well. But it did not worked, “
the ID is invalid was the messageâ€. I again contacted the Customer Care and
this time got a turse option, “So it may be a counterfeit atleast not
genuine, either return it or throw it awayâ€. and hung-up. What is it, Sir?
Frustrated over the issue and panically, I gone through EULA. What remains
to be defined as Gentility after this experience, is beyond my imagination.
If Microsoft adopts a user-friendly policy at reasonable price, why should
this Piracy Sector get opportunity to flourish? This issue is constantly
tormenting my mind.
An ordinary person will never go for Genuine windows, in such a case.which
is a normal consumer psychology. After all, who has the time and expertise to
screen such thing out ?
Furthermore, I discovered a Knowledge Based article , while scanning every
available Microsoft websites in following sleepless nights,
Your KB release on 30th april at Support Site clearly rather cleverly
assures that there is no limit for activation, but whenever I tried to
validate the copy of Windows, the page always redirected to ‘Buy Now’!!
You may treat this mail as a Genuine Feed Back as well as “Genuine
Grievanceâ€, over such a mercantile hegemony!
Try to do, if you have any option to rescue from such issues but how come an
installer CD turned out to be ‘fake’ overnight, is a Million Dollar question,
pondering my friends and even foes, who bully me for being fanatic for real
things.
No doubt, Microsoft has really contributed a lot to the Mankind for the ease
of operation and visual comfort, making a computer a real necessity for every
home and office .
But the other side of coin does not shine so bright in reality. What has
been the use of registering myself with Microsoft at the time of first
activation ? No one is here to explain. It is the same machine, no hardware
changes ! The whole process of Activation and Registration needs to be
re-examined !
