Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

This is the bain of my life. Every time I let start
Windows Update scanning for available updates this
messgage appears saying "Generic Host Process for Win32
Services has had to close".

This is the only time it appears when I am on-line.

Can anyone help as this is stopping me upgrading to
Service Pack 2?

I don't know about this problem how to correct it but in lieu of
automatic updates you can download the full 266MB installation package
or order a free CD or pick one up at Staples or Office Depot. It's also
on the cover of many PC magazines right now.
