Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error

When I am in the internet (ISP ATTWorldnet dial up), I get
a dialog box error that reads " Generic Host Process for
Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to
close..............."

When I try to click OK or Cancel ( also when I do
nothing). My ISP disconnects. I have to manually turn off
my computer because the modem keeps hanging up.

Any thoughts what may be wrong?
