I'm getting thi sannoying message every time I open ANY
folder in Windows XP. My Windows Updates are up to date,
as well as my virus scans. Here is the exact message:

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.

....and this it it's sig...

szAppName : SVCHOST.EXE szAppVer : 5.1.2600.0
szModName : user32.dll
szModVer : 5.1.2600.1134 offset : 00042eec

It doesn't crash anything, but it is a BIG problem as it
come up every time. Also, yesterday I replaced my
GeForce 4 MX 440 with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and ever
since then; when I open "My Computer" it goes REAL slow
and displays a flash light... then that blasted Win32
message shows.

Please Note: That message was coming up even BEFORE I got
the new GPU. How do I fix it? What is wrong? And yes,
I did upgrade my HP Printer drivers. Thanks :)

svchost.exe is the generic host process and you can have
more than one going at a time. If svchost acts up you
should suspect a virus or trojan. I would seach for online
virus/trojan scans, Panda and Symentec does them, just to
be completely sure your clean. Also, I read in a post here
that you should check your C:WINDOWs\ folder for
svchost.exe. If its there it shouldn't be. It belongs in
C:WINDOWS\system32\ file.

.
Try the system file checker tool. Click start, run, and
type in this here; "sfc /scannow" with that space after
the sfc. It will ask for your XP CD to copy any needed
files from, and it runs as Windows file Protection. If
you don't have a XP CD, try to borrow one.
When system files become corrupt, this can be caused by
faulty RAM, ( bad memory ), so I suggest running a RAM
test using a diagnostic utility.
