Anybody knows what program is "Generic Host Process for Win 32
Services" (svchost.exe) ?
It is asking access to internet, I'm using ZoneAlarm 4.0 for firewall.
Running on WinXP pro.
Tks in advance.

It supports a slew of services on behalf of the system - some of which
legitimately want to get at the Internet (eg Windows update, and
Internet Time). Best is to tell ZA always to let it have access, but
not to act as a server

Internet Time is not dependant on GHP. Not sure about Windows Auto
Update though.

I have a stand alone system just connected by cable modem to the
internet so I turned off the XP DHCP service (not needed unless you
are on a network). GHP immediately quit asking for internet access
when I did that. I also turned off the Windows Auto update service too
so not sure if GHP is used by it.

I still get my dynamic IP address supplied by my ISP's DHCP server and
all my internet programs work just fine. My internet time updates when
it is supposed to just fine.
