Generating thumbnails for photo gallery

I'm running Frontpage 2003 with Windows x64.
I open up a site and go to edit the photo gallery.
I add the jpg's to the list and press ok.
The progress bar appears and below, it says: "generating thumbnails for
photo gallery"
The progress bar gets to the end then stops. Nothing else happens and the
only way
of getting out of it it to press the close button at the top, 'cancel'
doesn't work.
