generate numbers

We have designed tickets and each will have a number:
VIP-0001
VIP-0002
VIP-0003
etc.

Is there something I can set up so the tickets will automatically generate a
new number so I won't have to go in and manually type them. We have up to
VIP-0500.

Enter VIP-001 in A1, select it and position the mouse at the lower right-hand
corner.

When the pointer become a pure + (no arrows on the plus), right click,
pull-down, and select:

If you type in VIP-0001 in cell a1 and drag it down the number should
increment. If that is not working for you then you could put 1, 2, 3, ... in
Cells A1, A2, A3, ... and format the cells with a custom format like this...

Format Cells|Number|Custom -> VIP-0000

Enter VIP-001 in the first cell then hover the cursor over the bottom
right-hand corner of the cell where there is a small black square calledthe
"fill handle"
When over the fill handle the cursor will change to black cross-hairs,
(don't be confused by tyhe four-headed arrow cursor the appears when you are
on the cell border). Left-click and hold pressed and drag down tghe column
and the numbers will index automatically
