general protection fault in module USER.EXE

I have to shut down IE and restart after getting error message.
My OS is Win98 Second Edition
P3, 511 RAM, System Resources most of the time above 75%

Below is the message I have been getting all the time.

I hope you get an answer Wayne, I have been trying for several days to get
an answer for the same problem. No repies as of yet. Very
irritating.....Linux is looking better every day now........

Hello Henri....I only wish I could access a website to figure out the
problem. The reason i'm posting here is that the browser does NOT work !

If the cause is some 3rd party software, can you go to Save mode and try to
disable it.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Did you install any new software recently?

Did you try to restore a previous registry.
At a DOS prompt execute

SCANREG /restore and select a date prior to the start of you problems. You
only have 4 or 5 days.
