I have been reading about GC placement on Msft web site and in the
newsgroups, here my question I have 8 sites (so far) all connected via
T1 lines, my only GC is on the first server on the Domain, even with
the creation of the sites clients are complaining that log on times
and access to the DFS shortcuts (menu items) are slow, would it make
sense to make all DCs at the sites GCs? Would that help with logon
times?
Thanks

In a single domain environment you should make all your DC's a GC.

Should I tweak the default settings for AD replication (4 times per hour if
I don't make a mistake) or just leave it alone?

You can't speed that interval up any further. 15 min is the minimum for
intersite replication.
