Well after weeks of searching the internet, posting on message boards and spending big $ on how-to books I give up
I've posted at a local technical college what I need done and hopefully a computer programming grad student will be able to help.
Question-whats the going rate for programmers-I just listed as negotiable and I guess I will ask the responders how much they want. Is it usually a flat fee or hourly rate? Do most professionals laugh at FrontPage? I'm hoping whoever can "write" the code/pages I need and instruct me on linking to the site and updating in the future-and my nightmare will be over

What have you tried to do with FP? Getting a simple page up and going is really pretty easy. Are you just flustered getting started, or are you having specific problems?

What version of FP are you using?

If you already have a site up,,,what's the URL.

This NG is the bestest and it's free...lotsa experts here to help you, if you post specific problems.

| I've posted at a local technical college what I need done and hopefully a computer programming grad student will be able to help.

This is a good way to find someone who may be able to help.

It depends. Some people may charge by the page, some by the hour, some by the project/complexity of site.

| Do most professionals laugh at FrontPage?

A true professional will never laugh at anything. If my doctor laughed at me, I'd get another doctor.

| I'm hoping whoever can "write" the code/pages I need and instruct me on linking to the site and updating in the future-and my nightmare will be over

This is another good way to approach the situation. Although, you still need to learn at least the basics of FP so you don't mess up what you paid to have done.

Where to star
I've got our site up and running no problems, the problem is we were trying to add an employee log-in section with schedules, reports, forms etc. The problem with the forms is I need a filled in form emailed (or saved at the server) not a text list, Tried using the free trial of Adobe Acrobat Forms (book $33.99), spent a week playing with that, got it working and found out you can only email the form if you (each employee) have a $30 adboe program. Glad I didn't pay for Adobe Pro 6. ($449
Then I was told I needed to use an Access database-fine -can't get it work right. (Access book $24.95
I ended up having to change from a Unix server($24.95/mo) to W2k($49.95/mo) because I was told I need to use ASP for my forms. Changing servers means I can't use the FP "manage users" to add employees and passwords. I was told by tech support I need an ASP Script-fine-I can only get the first user and password to work on the password list.
Been playing with the Access free trial for 2 weeks and I can't get the information into a database for
I've bought QUE "Using Frontpage 2003" $34.95 in addition to "Teach Yourself FrontPage 2003" $21.99 and "Show Me Microsoft FrontPage 2003" $19.99, "Access for Dummies" $19.99. I've considered taking a course but I don't need to learn everything about Access and ASP just how to make it work with our forms and FrontPage
This has basically been a nightmare since the manager said "can you put our forms online for the employees" and I said "sure, no problem
I'm ready to pay some whiz kid to do it (it'll probably take him an hour

I could probably get you rolling for free. use my contact link below.
it's really easy once you get some structure going.

OYE !! Wish you had come here first!

Talk to Chris Leeds he'll get you rollin'

2nd caveat....only listen to HALF of what server people tell ya...then ask here again :-)

Simple forms can be done with FP...included...nothing extra. Only if you need a more complex solution do you have to get more technical.

so far so good, appreciate everyones advic

maybe they bump up on the forum, but they don't on the newsgroup which is why some people think they are being ignored when the fact is on the newgroups people won't look back more than a day or two..

glad you found a solution!...I may need something like that soon,,,thnks for posting it!
