Gathering data from different PC's

Hi,
In a work environment - have 5 PC's each running the same DB but as a 'stand
alone' operation. All PC's are networked. I have created a 'master db'
which i want to use to pull in all the data from a certain table (results) in
the other 5 databases. At the moment, i can import or link the tables into
my master db, however if the network is down then my 'master db' wont work.
Is there any simple way i can import the data from the other 5PC's and then
the data is stored on my master db, as well as the stand alone pc's?? This
way it will act as a back up and also ill be able to access the data if the
network fails?? (although not totally upto date)??
Could i create a form with a cmd button to do this?? automatically??
Any suggestions where i should start??

Thanks

You want a solution for when the network is down. Does that really
happen? If it does, you can use a trusted network infrastructure
called SneakerNet: put your sneakers on and walk up to each of those
computers, and copy the database to a thumbdrive. Restore them to your
machine and reattach your master db to those databases.

I would vote for a better network and a split database design, so the
data tables are on a network share.

Ha,
Not a particularly time efficient process though i dont think(?). That is
precisely what i have been doing - using a usb stick! But im after a solution
which means i can pull all the info into new 'unlinked' tables on my master
db.
Its not just if the network goes down, that was just an example.

Any sensible suggestions??

Many thanks

How would we know until you told us?

"sensible" ... does that mean something other than "something that works"?

there's no doubt that somthing that works would be sensible & thats what im
trying to acheive, so any suggestions appreciated.
There are other factors (difficult to explain) which are influencing my
intention to do it as i have mentioned......

To the extent that you know your other influencing factors and we don't, we
can only guess.

More specific description may lead to more specific suggestions.

Good luck!
