I have windows XP with SP2 and Internet Explorer 6.0. I have a DSL
connection. Lately I have noticed that it takes considerably longer to
access websites...a lot longer than it use to take even though the connection
speed remains the same. I have done the following: disk error checking,
defragged the hard drive, emptied the temp folder, emptied the temperary
internet folder and deleted the cookies in the cookies folder. In thinking
that I may have spyware or adware I even downloaded and used Spybot but this
did not make any difference. What else could cause this slow down getting
into websites? It takes me about four (4) minutes to bring up the
Smartcomputing Website after clicking on it. When I first installed Verizon
DSL, approx a yr. ago, it was considerably faster. I have just noticed the
slow down in the past week or two. Other websites are not quite as slow. I
would appreciate some input. Thanks.
