GAIN Software Pop-ups

Unfortunately, GAIN can only be removed by uninstalling the GAIN supported application. You cannot uninstall GAIN directly. Once the GAIN supported application has been uninstalled, GAIN will uninstall itself as well.

To see the GAIN supported applications on your computer, click on the following link and then continue down the page and click on the link to show you the GAIN support apps on your computer.

I used to have a program called "GAIN" on my computer. I uninstalled it because it was showing too much Pop-Ups, but the pop-ups keep popping up. I installed 3 different pop-up blockers (Google toolbar, eAnthology, and Pop-up stopper free edition ). None of them worked. I would appreciate it if someone gave me advice.

Download and install AdAware or SpyBot, that program sucks, pardon my language...

Check here for instructions on dumping GAIN http://doxdesk.com/parasite/Gator.html
You might also benefit by running a spyware cleaner as well. Check Jim Eshelman's site for info and links http://aumha.org/win5/a/parasite.htm

Greetings --

Installing another form of spyware (eAnthology) to rid yourself of
Gain cannot be anything but counter-productive. Nor will pop-up
blockers, which are designed to stop only web-based advertising, have
any affect on the spyware you've installed on your hard drive.

To deal with issues caused by any sort of "adware" and/or
"spyware,"such as Gator, Comet Cursors, Xupiter, Bonzai Buddy, or
KaZaA, and their remnants, that you've deliberately (but without
understanding the consequences) installed, two products that are
quite effective (at finding and removing this type of scumware) are
Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org/. Both have free versions. It's even
possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your system
against most future intrusions. I use both and generally perform
manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.

Additionally, manual removal instructions for the most common
varieties of scumware are available here:
