FYI: OC an A7N8X Dlx, Barton +2500, & difering

Just an FYI for any folks that may be having a problem OC'ng their
board: To start off with, I had some problems just getting the board
working and it turned out to be a bad memory stick (I was using two
Corsair 512 PC3200 sticks). After determining the bad stick, all
installations went fine. I then wanted to take advantage of dual
channel so I threw in a stick of Crucial 512 PC3200 to augment the
Corsair 512 that was still good (the Crucial was from another PC). The
system came up fine and indicated it was using dual channels. Great! I
figured the memory was compatible and the MOBO was handling it ok.

I then wanted to pump up my Barton +2500. I had been reading this NG
and many others were able to easily change the CPU freq. to 200 with
little or no problems. My initial settings were
CPU Frq = 166
Mult = 11
Memory = 100%
Timings = Aggressive
I decided to "go for the gusto" and just charged the freq. to 200
leaving everything else as is. Whoops! no post. Ok, then I decided to
try something less aggressive: I changed the freq. to 180. Again, no
post! I then decided to start small and work my up from 167. Damn, it
still would not post!

Well the long and short of it is: I removed the stick of Crucial
memory and was able to boost the freq. to 200 without nary a problem.
I have not tried it yet, but I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts if I
now replace the Corsair stick with just the Crucial stick. I'll still
be able to hold a 200 freq. and that it is the combination of the two
which prohibited bumping the Freq past 166.

Now I'll just have to wait for my replacement Corsair memory to use
the dual channel and 200 freq. together. We'll see.

Anybody else have this experience?

Just wondering, did you try raising the memory and/or vcore voltages up
a notch?

Yup, first one than the other then both. This was an excruciating
exercise because the board also refused to boot to the default specs
when it found it was overclocked. I had to reset the BIOS via the
jumper on each attempt.
