Function in Microsoft.VisualBasic

What is the word from MS regarding use of the older compatibility function in
Microsoft.VisualBasic like Instr, Int, and the nice math functions. Are they
going to go away at some time (possibly to be replaced in the framework) or
is this a permanant part of VB.NET?

I can't say on behalf of Microsoft but I do believe Microsoft.VisualBasic
will be available in the next releases of framework. Anyway, it's in .NET
FW 2.0. So, we should not worry yet.
