Hi,

I've been copying some files onto my spare hard drive. I thought I had
enough space to fit them on, but eviedentally that wasn't the case and now my
spare hard drive is full.

During the copying (and I suppose at the point the hard drive became full)
my computer crashed. Now when I try to view my spare hard drive, Windows
asks me if I want to format it.

Is there any way I can restore the data from my spare drive without
reformatting?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Steve:

You mentioned you "copied" files, which means the original is somewhere. Or
you made backups. Then, you can reformat, and copy it back in, or restore it.
Otherwise, the only other option is to bring it to services that restore data
from "kaput" drives. They're out there.

You'll probably need a bigger drive, in which case you might consider
getting a larger one. Personally, I'm leery of reformatting a drive that
crashed since I done it two years ago, restored the data, and have it crash
again a few months after. Would have saved much time and effort replacing the
drive the first time around.

What I finally did was got myself a new PC, and only replaced the drive on
my kaput PC after my daughter 10 year old Windows 98 machine went. After
replacing the drive, it worked fine ever since.
