Hello. I'm having trouble accessing my FTP sites on both a Win2K and WinXP
machine. The error message given is "425 Data Socket". I'm able to enter my
username and password to gain initial access to my sites, but the problem
lies in acquiring the files themselves.

Additionally, I used to be able to upload & download files from my FTP sites
easily through Internet Explorer -- a simple drag-&-drop. But now I'm not
able to upload. Is there a fix?

Many thanks in advance for helping me out on this!

Hello.

I found the answer to my problem. I was advised to do the following:

* Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Internet Options

* On the "Advanced" Tab (far right) under Browsing, uncheck "Use Passive FTP
(for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)"

I also undid the same option for my third-party FTP software (CuteFTP) and
it worked fine, too.

Sorry about the trouble, and hope this helps!
