I have been trying to alter my web page using FTP. Nothing seems to
be working. I usually use Total Commander as it has excellent FTP
facilities. I have tried putting the address into IE6 - nothing
happens. I downloaded a freeware FTP program and tried that -
Nothing again.
Has something happened with my setup or what? Any help would be
very gratefully received. I am using XP Home with SP2. It is only
lately this problem has started.

Scan for viruses & spyware at www.pandasoftware.com/activescan . Panda
does a good job of removing viruses, but is less effective at removing
spyware.

Install Spybot, Ad-Aware & Microsoft's AntiSpyware tools. Obtain the latest
updates. Scan for spyware.

If Panda found spyware, scan at Panda again. Use "killbox.exe" if necessary
to get rid of the spyware.

One of the new security updates has affected FTP for some people. KB893066
seems to be the problem update. Try removing that in Add/Remove Programs
(click Show updates at the top).

If you don't see KB893066 in add/remove programs, go to the Windows update
site, left click on "view installation history".
