FTP brings up wrong account.

J

Jack Heemskerk

I have two saved "network places" that are ftp connections
to the same server. I set up the ftp://bob@server and
check the "remember password". Now when I try to create
the other one (ftp://fred@server) I'm not asked for a
password when I open it AND it opens as if it's bob's
account with his files.

I wish I didn't check the save password! Help!

Hi Jack,

There's an article that discusses how passwords are stored in Windows XP
here:

281660 Behavior of Stored User Names and Passwords
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=281660

The article discusses how to manage the stored passwords:

-------
To access these credentials in Control Panel:
- Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional in a workgroup: In
the User Accounts tool, select the logged-on user account.
-------

With any luck, you'll find the ftp listing in there and can remove it.
