FSB Settings

Black Night

I've just setup a new PC and I'm having trouble setting the FSB speed.

The setup I have is an Athlon 2800+ running on an Gigabyte 7NNXP
motherboard. In the bios the FSB setting is set to 133Mhz, and when I go
into Windows and use the Gigabyte supplied utility it says the processor is
running at 1300Mhz. My questions are, can I set the FSB stratight to 333MHz
in the bios (although the bios only seems to go to 300Mhz, and I did this
and the system didn't re-boot and I had to clear CMOS to get it going
again). Secondly why would Windows report the processor is only running at
1300Mhz and not the 2.08GHz the 2800+ supports?

The bios is the Award bios.

Thanks

BK

Remember you are using a ddr therefore the fsb should be set at 166MHz not
333 (166x2)!

Your processor speed is made up of the FSB speed X Multiplier.

If your memory is 333mhz then you can set your FSB to 166 and if it's
capable of 400mhz, 200 (but remember to lower the multiplier in order to
obtain the correct speed or as close as is possible].)

FSB should be set to 166, not 133. Multiplier should be set to 12.5

Because it's set up incorrectly in the BIOS?

Try using Aida32 as well as the Gigabyte util to check CPU speed.
