Frontpage suddenly no longer showing Javascripts?!?!?!?!

Hello all,

I'm having a sudden, irritating problem that I can't get rid of. Frontpage
has suddenly decided that it just doesn't want to show Javascripts anymore.
The only thing I can think of is that I upgraded to Internet Explorer 7
earlier today, but I SWEAR that FrontPage was working after I initially did
the upgrade.

Every time I go to preview the site, I have to click a number of "An error
has occured in the script on this page" dialog boxes (one for every script
on my page). Then it just displays the website with no scripts. It always
references a file in my "temporary intenet files" folder, usually like this:

file:///C:/Temp/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/FrontPageTempDir/pvw3.htm

I have repeatedly emptied my Temp Internet Files folder to no avail. I've
rebooted the computer as well, which didn't help. Also, when you preview the
site in the browser, the same errors show but the scripts are displayed.
However, when you view the site *live* on the internet, no errors are shown.

Obviously there's something going on with either Frontpage or with my
computer. Anyone have any ideas? This is extremely frustrating...

Since the errors do *not* show when you view the Live site in a browser on
the web, this suggests it is to do with you previewing the site in the
"Preview Mode" rather than in a browser. What happens if you "Preview in
Browser" instead (this option is from the File menu)?

If you eventually upgrade to Expression Web Designer, you'll note there is
no "Preview" mode, and the only preveiw option is "Preview in Browser".

Unfortunately the "preview" thing won't be fixed since FP is discontinued.

However if as you suspect it was an IE 7 fault then check the MS website for
IE 7 updates, and lodge a call with them to see if they can suggest anything
else.

Hello Andrew,

I mentioned that in my original post. When I "Preview in Browser", the JS
errors show up, but the scripts DO run. I can see the websites normally,
except the error messages show. With FP's Preview window, the errors show
and the scripts DO NOT run. BTW, the error messages only SHOW in IE7 - FF,
Netscape and Opera do not show any errors. This suggests that IE may have a
problem writing to the Temp Folder?

Anyway, I am now certain that that the problem is with IE7, since I just
removed it and went back to IE6 and now everything works normally, with no
errors.

<Sigh>.... I wish there was a way to run *both* IE-6 and IE-7 on the
computer. I'm perfectly happy with IE-6. I only upgraded to IE-7 for
web-design purposes. None of my computers have IE-7 on them so I don't know
how my sites look on IE-7. I had to upgrade to IE-7 so I would know how
things would look, but it's causing problems with my FP.

I actually use "preview in browser" a lot, but I also use the regular
"preview" tab for quick editing and changes.

Thanks for replying.
