Frontpage modifies files with basefont size tags.

Frontpage 2003 SP2. Launching Frontpage set such that last website is loaded.
As soon as Frontpage launches into the website, all HTML (.htm) files at the
root level (at least) are being modified on disk without being loaded into
the editor and saved. The modification consists of the addition of <basefont
SIZE="2"> lines several hundred times. This prevents the files from being
loaded into the Frontpage editor.

Hi Bill,

That's a new one.

For starters, go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and
download a copy of FP Cleaner.
Run the functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary Files and the
Cache(*.web) files.

If the problem still persists, open FrontPage, close the web and then on the
FrontPage toolbar click Help > Detect and repair.

fwiw, seeing Pratt & Whitney brings back a lot of memories.

Hi Steve,
I tried your app and it may have helped. I also used the find and replace to
remove every instance of basefont as an HTML tag from all HTML in the
website. This website is about nine years old and has been managed variously
with several versions of FrontPage, Visual Interdev, and VS dot Net. I have
gone in and out with CSS and themes, and have used lots and lots of graphics
and other convoluted stuff. This website is also quite large with over 2G
content.

I think it's repaired now. Thanks for the help.
