Would any body know how to point FP2k or FP03's default dictionary to a
custom dictionary (and also possibly in a custom location)?

FP uses Word's dictionary.

You might be able to hack frontpg.ini, I know you can change the language ID there ?? dunno.

Interesting question though

FrontPage uses the dictionaries from Word.
In Word, Tools->Options - Spelling and Grammar tab.
In FP2003 click Custom Dictionaries, and change the settings there. (not
sure of commands in earlier versions).

Thanks for that, but I have been able to create a custom word dic and in a
custom location for Word. Unfortunately, FP does not appear to use the same
dic, since words that I have in my Word custom dic are unrecognised in FP.

Though if there is a registry hack or something to point FP's dictionary to
the word custom dic, then I would be interested.

Ron,

I couldn't find it in FP2002.
I wonder if there's a reg. hack somewhere.

It would appear that FrontPage 2003 will only use a file named CUSTOM.DIC in
the
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof folder. In other words, it
will not use *your* dictionary.

Thanks for that, though as noted earlier, I am well able to set custome dic's
in MSWord (or XL etc), but I cannot find any place in FP03 to change dics.
Where in your FP03 is there a selection for custom dic?

Oops!

In FP2003 click Custom Dictionaries should be
In Word 2003 click Custom Dictionaries

Sorry :)

My bad!

In FP2003 click Custom Dictionaries should be
In Word 2003 click Custom Dictionaries

Sorry for confusion.

I tried it, FP ignores all custom dictionaries except the custom.dic created
when office is installed. If the file does not exist, FP creates it.

On my 2k Pro machine FrontPage uses the same custom.dic file as Outlook Express, which is located
here:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof

It's the only file at that location

Cheers for that, I will assume that it is not possible to use our
"centralised" custom dic for the other office apps, though agian I would ge
grateful for any assitance to have this item put on an MS wishlist.
