I am trying to design a product order page and a product
download page. I need to present a product where a
customer clicks to pay. Then after paying they go to a
download page. The page has a PDF ebook or a software
package or a zip file. How do I set this up. Also how
do I set this up where people can not go to the download
page before paying. Thanks for any help from Very
Confused.

I've ordered some things online that were downloads and after they get my
money, they send me a log-in and password to a page with the link. With a
setup like this who cares if the know the page, they can't get in. At least
not easily.

If the ebook or software isn't a huge file, you could email it to them after
payment although that's kind of a wonky way of handling business.

Yes, that's a fairly typical scenario. Since an email goes directly to the
owner of the email address, and can't be fetched without credentials, this
is a quick and safe way to send login credentials. Often, the user gets the
email right away, and can log in to the secured page immediately.

If you have more than just one item or anything else you sell, You might want to look at getting an actual Store type program. Many people use www.CandyPress.com and it has an option to have a downloadable item. It's pretty cheap and works great too.

Just a thought.
