Frontpage 2002 hanging

Frontpage 2002 on Windows XP has started to hang (Not Responding).

Firstly, the web I was working on last would open, but would hang when
I clicked the open folder icon. File/View Folders worked, and I could
open a page and save it as normal.

I have downloaded and run the recommended FP Cleaner utility (found in
other recommendations for this problem to remove the *.web files etc.)
and set it not to open the last Web, and now it hangs when I try to
open a web. I have also done a detect and repair, and have also done a
reinstall from disk.

A version of Frontpage running on a networked PC here is working
normally on the webs and folders on my PC so it doesn't look as though
they are corrupted in any way.

Does anyone have any other suggestions, please?

I have just solved this by removing the most recent Miscrosoft
Security Updates (via add/remove programs), a suggestion I saw in
another thread about not being able to Save As, so indirect thanks to
Tom [Pepper] Willett.

I"ve been having the same problem for the last few days with FP 2003. I tried
all the same solutions you tried (except removing the updates), and I finally
did a restore to April 17th, the last time FP worked correctly. Everything
was fine until the security updates loaded again...

Today I tested each of the 3 security updates that had been downloaded a few
days ago by removing each one individually. I found that the problem update
seemed to be the last one, KB908531. The other updates are still installed,
but that one is removed and FP is once again working normally. I hope this
helps.

I have expierenced the same thing....if I remove update KB908531 evrytign
works fine. Anyone know if this is an important update or has MS issued a
fix for this?

The fix is KB908531 version2
Go to add & remove programs and click on the update KB908531.
Then Click on "Click here for support information"
Look at the version # What you want is 2
Version 2 was issued on the 25th of April and should have been installed on
the 26th with auto updates.
