Frontpage 2000 Themes will not apply error message

Randy Gamble

I am still using Frontpage 2000, and when I try to apply Themes to a
page, it works for a bit, then:

"Frontpage cannot theme Microsoft Word document, unless a version of
Word that supports theming is installed"

I am using Word 97 with the HTML applications, but still get error. I
don't have a use for new word document verusions, since I don't use it
much anymore.

What will I have to do to make this version work on the Windows XP -
Home machine. I don't really use Frontpage much except on fast entries
on certain pages with tables.

Thanks
Randy

Are you using Word with Frontpage themes?? (not a good idea.....I didn't even
know you could do this).

Are you developing a web site in Word? (also a bad idea.....).

Your question is slightly confusing.....please clarify:

1) Are you using Frontpage
2) Are you using Word
3) Are you mixing both (i.e. making html pages in Word, copying to FP, or vice
versa, and trying to apply a Frontpage web theme then trying to open the html
document in MS Word?

I would stick to Frontpage for all Web development and leave Word 97 for word
processing.

I am trying to use Frontpage, but get that stupid error. I don't use
Word for HTML saves, but only use Word for Word Processing. I am trying
to add Themes to a Web Page that was design wholly with Frontpage. I
didn't have this problem with Windows ME, but I suspect that the Trial
versions of Office XP that pre-loaded on this computer had something to
do with the problem.

Thanks

You need to have a Web Site - not a page open in FP
And if you have any .doc file in the site (the web folder) you will get that error
You will also get that error if you have not set FP as your default html editor
Tools Option General - Startup (unselect the 2 options Check if...)
